053 - Bzzzzzz

O happy day! I am uncontrollably drawn to photographing flowers, and daisy shaped ones are my favorite. We went to the local garden center last weekend (which was one of the most awesome garden centers I have ever stepped foot in), and came home with amid other things, these beautiful flowers. I'm not really sure what kind they are; I guess I could go digging around in the pot for a label...but it's really not all that important to me.

Since it rained today it was the water droplets on the gerbera daisies that originally drew me out to the deck tonight. However, it was the bee that immediately got my attention once I got outside. It was even kind enough to stay put while I ran back into the house to get a different lens. Plus... it didn't sting me! O happy day!

052 - Ohio House HDR

It's a new post! I bet you thought I had all but given up on this little venture. Obviously, 365 consecutive days of photos is a pipe dream. I admit defeat. But, I am going to continue shooting and posting here as often as possible. Maybe someday I will attempt a post a day again...

Anyway, today I have a really cool old house we came across driving around in Northeast Ohio. I would have loved to get inside this place. Normally DO NOT TRESPASS signs won't keep me away, however, there was an occupied house right across the street and I didn't feel like getting arrested my first week in Ohio.

I've done some high def photo shopping to enhance the overall feeling of abandonment. I dig old houses...can't you tell?

051 - Callas

Hello everyone! I know it's been a while since I have posted anything, but I'm hoping that will be changing soon. As you know, we have made the trek from Florida up to Ohio. I must say I won't be missing Florida. It's a great place to visit, but I'm a Midwest girl at heart and just never felt at home there. However, I will miss the friends I made and hope we will meet up again someday.

Ohio is lovely. We have moved into a small town that feels very much like my hometown back in Wisconsin. The weather alternates between beautiful blue skies and rain, which is typical for spring. Averaging about 70 degrees. No humidity! YAY! Flowers are blooming everywhere and the yards in our neighborhood are just incredible.

Our yard was torn up and re-seeded so we don't yet have flowers, but Melissa got me a pot of Calla Lilies for Mother's Day. So pretty, so I thought I would share...

049 - Project Runway

I am a huge fan of Project Runway. My life revolves around it each season and this latest season has been no exception. Your house is burning down? Terribly sorry, can't help you right now. Project Runway is on! You have a flat tire? Ok, I'll be there as soon as Project Runway is over! Seriously, it's an addiction.

Last night was the season finale and Melissa and I were on pins and needles, fingers and toes crossed, begging the box with with pretty pictures to give us the verdict we were waiting for. Silly to get so worked up over a tv show, but it's one of the very few that truly bring me joy. (Seth Aaron won...yay!)

I too have a knack for sewing and have made everything from Halloween costumes to formals. I haven't designed anything of my own, but I can follow a pattern with the best of them. Last year, (during Project Runway's last season), I was diligently working on the masterpiece the lovely KK is modeling below.

I had such a good time working with her. She's beautiful and the dress fit her perfectly.

The entire dress is silk and chiffon; yards and yards and yards of it. Fully lined, boning in the bodice. I don't even know how many hours I sat crouched over the machine working on this. It's a size 2...I could probably be talked into selling it if any one's interested... :)

048 - baby parody

Sometimes you just can't take things too seriously.
I had an assignment once where we were given a handful of words and needed to photograph something that could be described by that word. One of my words was "parody". Almost immediately I knew what I wanted to do. Off to Walmart in the wee hours of the night searching for a "baby" double and some silk flowers. The end result was my Anne Geddes parody.
This photo amuses me quite a bit. Elliott on the other hand, is completely creeped out by it. I guess it falls into whatever valley he spoke about once. I have wanted to do a series of baby double poses and hang them around the house for laughs. Gallery style! Probably not such a nice thing to do to the man I love but I would get quite a chuckle out of it!

047 - Birds in the Bay

OMG - I can't believe I haven't posted since Tuesday! Where did the week go??? It's been pretty busy here between packing and quarterly tax returns. I am soooo sleepy...

Anyway, amongst the stress and turmoil I wanted to post something soothing and calming today. These birds were just lounging about on some wreckage in Tampa Bay...seems like a good idea...only I'll take my bed over sharp scraggly concrete any day!
