009 - Falling Down House

Once upon a time I was firmly against photo editing. I believed that you should do your best to create a technically perfect image straight out of the camera. I still believe that. I shoot in full manual mode, each image carefully thought out in order to get what I am looking for. However, I have come to embrace what computer software can do. HDR is a perfect example. High Dynamic Range imaging is a technique that allows you to show a greater range of light and dark areas in your photo and is done by merging multiple images into one. I like using this technique for old abandoned buildings, warehouses, rusty barns, etc. We found this house today and I knew it would be great as an HDR image.

008 - Lizard

Macro rocks! Last summer this little lizard unknowingly plunged to his death when he decided to crawl into an open bucket of bleach. Not one to miss a somewhat gruesome photo opportunity, he was fished out of the bucket and stored safetly away. Six months later...nothing more than skin and bones. Now the awesome macro part. His head is a mere 5 mm long and his entire body (not including tail) is just over 2 cm. Wicked cool.

007 - Ybor

Ybor City on a Friday night...in winter. Summertime would bring triple the amount of people. Still fairly busy and always very cool to drive through. One of these days we will actually park the car and explore the little shops and clubs that line these streets.

006 - Lake Reflection

It rains a lot here in Florida, how much depends on the time of year but it's more than I expected. The trees on the edge of this lake end up being under water more often than not. It's really quite pretty...especially at sunset.

005 - Rose Leaves

It's a rainy day today in not so sunny Florida. I went outside after the rain had stopped looking for something...anything that wasn't brown and dead. Almost everything in our yard died off this winter because of the freezing temps. However, our rose bushes are thriving. Go figure.

004 - Faux Butterfly

Elliott brought me a leaf this morning thinking it would be a good subject for today's post. He thought it was all cool and vein-y. It was folded in half, just like a shell and when opened had a butterfly shape. After carefully splitting the stem in half, it now had antennae! A few hours left to dry, a bit of creative crafting and viola! 'Faux Butterfly on a Branch'

Well, it's a beautiful 78° in sunny Florida today. A perfect day for a ride on the motorcycles. This is Jack, my little good luck charm/key ring all ready to go!

001 - Feral Hog

Feral hog seen on a back road in Ruskin, FL. I would have liked to get closer, but these guys are mean and I don't think a little bit of barbed wire would have stopped him if he decided to chase me!
